Service Details
Bernice Rhone, 89, passed away March 6, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Bernice was born August 13, 1920 in Des Moines. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Iowa Jewish Nursing Home and as a nurse at the Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Center. After retirement, Bernice was a foster grandparent for Des Moines Public Schools for over 13 years and a Senior Companion. She was a member of KYLES A.M.E. Zion Church and taught Sunday school for many years.
Bernice is survived by children, Duane Rhone, Judy (Ron) McClain, Joyce (Steve) Vaughn, David (Celeste) Rhone, II, Richard (Jo) Rhone, Don (Lynn) Rhone, John Rhone, Jean Parker, Janise Rhone and Jeannette (Freddrick Loveridge) Rhone; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Madeline Wells; brother, Kenneth Wells; sisters-in-law, Florence and Mary Wells; cousins, Catherine and Dr. Paul Williams and Bobby Parker; and many other friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Harry Wells; brothers, Arthur, Robert and Harry Jr.; daughter, Detri Lynn; and spouses, Henry Frazier and David Rhone, Sr.

To the Rhone Family,
My heart goes out to you in your moment of grief. Please know that I share your sorrow at the loss of your beloved mother.
Losing a mother leaves a trail of sadness and pain that is difficult to bear.
But we have a Lord and Savior who overcame emotional suffering, physical death, and spiritual emptiness for all of us.
You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy, Christ told the disciples on that last night (John 16:20 NIV). In Christ, we have the assurance that joy will come. Be strong and courageous in the knowledge that God loves us so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that those who believe in Him will never die.
God was with your mother every step through life. The same God is with you now. Let Him be your rod and your staff, your refuge and comfort in this time of sorrow.
Please remember that you are not alone-you have a family in Christ. All of us at Breath of Life Family Church are here to share your sorrow.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with you now and always.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.

To the Loving Family of Mother Bernice Rhone.
Family,
I am reminded that the Bible says in Revelation 21:4, God will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
I am praying that you'll sense Gods presence,
In this time of grief,
And feel Gods love surrounding you,
And know His inner peace,
For God cares so much for you,
And wipes each tear you cry,
You never need to feel alone,
For Hell never leave your side!

My thoughts and prayers of sympathy go out to the Rhone family.
Mrs. Rhone always made me feel so welcome in her home. With all of her children and foster children, she always managed to make each one feel special. I know her departure is a strong blow for her family; mothers like her can't be replaced. But I know she would be looking down with that sassy smile of hers encouraging everyone to remember her good times. The family should take comfort in knowing that she is free from pain and wordly worries now.
