Service Details

John Eldon Barker of West Des Moines, Iowa died at home Tuesday, February 13, 2007 of cancer. Funeral services will be at Morgan Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri on Saturday, February 17, 2007. Following the service John will be buried with military honors in the Puxico Cemetery.
John was born to Gertrude Ann May Barker and Marion Shirley Barker on April 10, 1921 near Brownwood, Missouri. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps and flew out of Sicily. After he was seriously wounded, he completed his service at Whiteman AFB, Knob Noster, Missouri. John married Laura Celeste Richardson on July 21, 1944 and they had two sons: Ronald Eldon and Gregory Alan. John retired from Fru-Con Corporation in 1982 as VP/Treasurer. He resided in Florissant, Missouri until 2002, when he and Laura moved to West Des Moines to be near their son.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mary Kay of West Des Moines, Iowa and son, Greg of Leesburg, Virginia; his grandchildren, John Brett and Shannon of Springfield, Illinois and Erin of Prague, Czech Republic; great granddaughter Gianna Lauren of Springfield, Illinois; sisters, Connie Cookson of Advance, Missouri, Doris Barton of Sullivan, Missouri, Sharon Downs of Richland, Missouri and Stella Piles of Owensville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Mary Richardson of Puxico, Missouri and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Laura, infant granddaughter, Anne Kathryn, sisters, Esther Daniels and Earlene Morgan and his step-brother, Dick Buttrey.
