Betty Rae Delemege

Betty "Rae" passed away February 10, 2007, of a heart and lung condition in San Antonio, Texas. She was born February 6, 1931 to Lloyd and Marna Vallandingham. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. She spent most of her life in Des Moines working and raising her five children until she recently moved to San Antonio.
She is survived by her five children: Tom (Candy) Davey of Des Moines; LuAnne Davey of Des Moines; Pat (Kim) Davey of Golden, CO; Brian (Deanna) Davey of Chandler, AZ; and Bob (Laura) Davey of Huntsville, AL and her eleven grandchildren. She was anxiously anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild in July.
She is also survived by her companion Harvey "Deene" Neilan of San Antonio, Texas.
Rae was also an aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She enjoyed shopping, going to casinos with friends, attending sporting events, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered by everyone who knew her for her easy laughter and her fun-loving ways.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 16, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home where the family will be present. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 17, at 11 a.m. with burial at Glendale Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Build Lincoln Higher Scholarship Fund.
