Carolyn Jean Peltz, 59, passed away December 13, 2009, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Her family was blessed to have had Carolyn in their lives for so many years after winning a major battle against Hodgkins Disease in 1974. Visitation will be held 5 – 7 p.m., Wednesday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the funeral home.

Carolyn was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on December 20, 1949 to Oliver (O.J.) and Sadie Mossberg. She was the youngest of three children and the family lived in Gowrie, Iowa. Carolyn graduated in 1968 from Prairie Community High School in Gowrie. She was a member of the Order of Rainbow, Lohrville Chapter and played basketball, softball and the piano.

Carolyn married Leslie (Les) Dean Peltz on October 25, 1968 in Gowrie, Iowa. They raised two children, Brenda and Aaron, in Ankeny, Iowa. Carolyn was a dedicated and loving stay at home mom while her husband was employed at Allied Group Insurance.

Carolyn loved and was loved by countless family members and friends. She adored her grandchildren, Sadie and Wiley, and they loved her right back for all of the attention, love and fun she shared with them. Sadie and Wiley will always remember their grandma for getting down on her hands and knees to play, listening to all of their joys and troubles, attending all of their performances and for always saying "yes". When Carolyn wasn't doting on her grandkids she enjoyed playing penny slots and watching her beloved Hawkeyes.

Carolyn is survived by Leslie, her beloved husband and best friend of 41 years, her daughter Brenda Souhrada, of Hudson, Iowa, her son, Aaron (Monika) Peltz of Clive, Iowa, her sister, Kathy Mossberg, of Fort Dodge, Iowa and her beloved grandchildren, Sadie Peltz, age 8, of Clive and Wiley Souhrada, age 6, of Hudson.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Sadie and Oliver Mossberg, her brother, Curtis Mossberg and her father and mother in law, Albert and Marcella Peltz.
