Liddell was born in Marshall County, Byhalia, Mississippi on May 7, 1947 to the late Mr. Norman Thomas, Sr. and Clister Mae Perry Thomas. To this union, he was the fourth child of thirteen.

As a child he attended the Isaac Chapel C.M.E. school and Henry High school.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Isaac Chapel C.M.E. church.

Liddell enlisted in the Marine Corps (1967-1969), served in the Vietnam War and was discharged with honors.

In 1970 Liddell moved to Kansas City, Missouri to work and attend vocational school.

In 1971, Liddell met Laura and was married in March 25, 1972. To their union 2 children were born.

Liddell worked at Amoco Oil for 22 year and retired in 2008 from Allied Insurance.

Liddell loved God. He read his Bible daily and had daily devotion with God. His commitment was to be in the service of the Lord and he loved studying the Word and sharing it with others. Liddell was also an inspirational teacher, and lived the gospel he taught. He also loved fishing, cooking, grilling, playing with his granddaughters, and traveling with his family.

Liddell was ordained as a deacon in 1981 under the leadership of the late Pastor O.L. Cobbins, Sr. at the Macedonia M.B.C. and served as chairman of the Trustee Board and Chairman of the Deacon Board under the leadership of Pastor Alex Crawford, Jr. at the Morning Star M.B.C.

Liddell was preceded in death by his father and mother, Norman, Sr., and Clister Mae Thomas, sister Genetta Thomas, brother, Norman Thomas, Jr., and sister, Kathleen Cox.

Liddell leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 37 years, Laura; son Liddell, Jr. (Michelle); daughter Lori (Antoine Williams); granddaughters, LeAsia, Lauryn and Mia; brothers, Louis (Pamela), Dennis (Shirley), Marshall, Russell (Barbara); sisters, Rosie, Priscilla (Jerry), Sharon, Lola, Peggy, Norma Jean, Elizabeth (James); one aunt, Clara Webb (Robert, Sr.); nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
