Timothy Alan Gilmore
July 26, 2023
Timothy “Tim” Alan Gilmore, 61, passed away Wednesday July 26, 2023, in Hospice after losing his battle to cancer. Tim was born December 5, 1961, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Stacey and Judy (Otteros) Gilmore. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1980 and resided in Colorado before moving to West Des Moines, Iowa.
Tim was a hardworking and straight forward, no nonsense, no drama, but always fair man. He worked at both in Colorado at the Boulder Daily Camera and Des Moines Register before spending over 20 years at FedEx Freight. His co-workers respected his work ethic and daily positive attitude that he brought daily until his final days. His co-workers knew that he was consistent, fair, and dedicated to the job. Tim was known at work as “Gilmore” and his work ethic couldn’t be duplicated. They described him as nothing short of amazing and someone who took care of everyone all the time.
Tim surrounded himself with those he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He loved to golf, play games, enjoy new craft beers and barbeques on the deck. His home was his “happy place” and “sanctuary” and if he wasn’t at home, he would be at Shady Oaks Golf course where he married his love, Marcy. Tim loved and cherished moments and found peace mowing his lawn or skimming the backyard pool. Tim was genuine and loved with his heart and soul. “To know Tim is to love him” as quoted by all.
He is survived by his soulmate and love of his life, Marcy; all his children that he loved and were part of their life journey, Scott (fiancé Lacy) Gilmore, Geordann (Ray) Stormes, Zachary Gilmore all of Colorado, and Sydney Gilmore of Des Moines, IA; his stepchildren, Hailey (Adam) Jahnel, Falls City, NE, Rachel Roush and Corby Roush of Maryville, MO; beloved grandchildren in Colorado and Iowa; mother and stepfather, Judy and Joe VanCleave; brother, Dave (Patty) Gilmore; stepbrothers, Eric (Patty) VanCleave and Jim (Esther) VanCleave, all of Colorado; brother-in-law, Tony (Jackie) Walker; along with many nieces, nephews, co-workers, and friends he also called family.

Our sympathy to Tim's family, especially Marcy. We feel fortunate to have met and known Tim as our neighbor and friend. He was always easy to talk to and emanated the happiness he felt with his life in the way he relished carrying out everyday tasks. We will miss him. May family, friends, and loved ones find comfort in memories of the good life he led.
