James Linville

James Edwin Linville, Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

James was born June 22, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa to James Edwin Linville, Sr. and Betty Jean Linville. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1971. James worked for the Des Moines Public School District following his graduation until 2010. He married Cathy Jo Huffacker on December 23, 1972, until September 1993. They were blessed with two children: Christina Jean Linville and James Michael Linville; and four grandchildren: Rain (15) Maxwell (14), Royce (12), and Mila (12). James loved his family and enjoyed being with them. His extended family enjoyed having him at Sunday dinner, where he liked playing cribbage with Bubba and others. James played pool for many years on APA and city pool leagues. One of his favorite places to go was Prairie Meadows. He loved country music and watching westerns, especially Marshal Dillon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Jean Linville; and his sister, Susan Pedersen. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his loving companion and forever friend, Jeanette Woods; nephews, Steve Pedersen and Christopher Pedersen; and many other extended family and friends.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, Sunshine Open Bible Church, with a luncheon immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
