Lillian Zanotti Burroughs, 84, of Des Moines died on February 9, 2007 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines from complications of Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held at the Resthaven Mausoleum Chapel at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday with burial following at the Resthaven Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where there will be a 7 P.M. Rosary.
Lillian was a long time employee at the telephone company in the late 1940’s and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for almost 50 years where she had been very active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a standout high school athlete in basketball and softball and continued playing and coaching both sports for several years post high school in AAU leagues. She was an avid and long time Iowa Hawkeye fan. As a season ticket holder for over three decades, Lillian attended many home football games and post-season bowl games.
She is survived by her four children; Sam (Lisa) Burroughs of San Diego, Mike (Debbie) Burroughs of Altoona, Pennsylvania, David Burroughs of Des Moines and Mary (Jim) Harmeyer of Denver, Colorado; her sisters Esther Cervetti of West Des Moines and Anna Marie Zanotti of Costa Mesa, California as well as 6 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
