Anita Marie Speck

Anita Marie Speck went to the party on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

Even though Anita was born June 28, 1944, she insisted on telling everyone she was 21 years old. She was the Site Director for YWCA Waukee for over 10 years. Anita enjoyed fishing and her feisty dog, Bruiser. She married her lifelong friend Tom Speck, and they enjoyed nine years together before his passing. She loved her family above all else, and they will greatly miss her ornery personality.

She is survived by her children: Carolyn (JR) Fallin, Ronnie (Dianne) Ives, Diana Sly, Bobby (Saundra) Ritter, and Donnie (Angie) Ritter, 29 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband Tom Speck, parents Milton and Nellie Phipps, siblings Patty Walker, Richard Phipps, and Larry Phipps, son Jimmy Ives, and her grandchildren Donald John, Tyler Pike, and Melody Haus.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023, also at Hamilton’s.
