Thuong Lo was born on July 14, 1932 to Mr. Truc Lo and Poune Hoang Thi of Sonla, Vietnam.

Thuong was educated as Medical Technician in China and then Hanoi, Vietnam, he was employed as a Medical Assistance in the French Army Unit of North Vietnam, from 1949 to 1954.

Thuong was married to Hien Hoang Thi in 1952. After the battle of Dien Bien Phu and the end of the French Colonial in Vietnam in 1954, Thuong and Hien migrated to Laos and settled in Vientiane from 1955 to 1979, together they have 9 children. 1) Liane Lo, married to Phang Phetmanivong, Liane has 4 children: Nilandone, Phonesavanh, Olivia, and Shawny. 2) Bounlian (deceased). 3) Bounlai Lo, married to Vivanh, they have 4 children: Bonita, Sabrina, Lena, and Franky. 4) Souanmai, married to Phimpho Souvanarith, they have 3 chrildren: Mala, Malee, and Maniso. 5.) Seuythong, married to Don Luangrath, they have 2 children: Alang, and Alliston. 6.) Dara, married to Mike Rasavanh, they have 3 children: Samantha (deceased), Zachary, and Isabelle. 7.) Kingsada, married to Ting Leuang, they have 2 children: Mario, and Mikato. 8.) Saybansa Lo, married to Nina, they have 2 children: Annysa, and London. 9.) Tounechay Lo, married to Phay.

After the Vietnam war, The Lo migrated to Thailand in 1979, they were sponsored by the Covenant Christian Reformed Church, and resettled to Sioux Center, Iowa USA on July 2nd, 1980 with their 4 younger children: Dara, Kingsada, Saybansa, and Tounechay. The Lo family received Jesus as their Savior and was baptized in 1982.

The Lo family later moved to Des Moines, in 1989 and was a good standing member of the Asian Open Bible Church (@First Church of the Open Bible), and now Lifesong Open Bible.

Mr. Lo passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023, surrounded by all of his children traveled from Canada, Thailand, North Carolina and here in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023, with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., at First Church of the Open Bible, 2200 Beaver Ave., Des Moines. Urn burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Glendale Cemetery.
