Irene Rose Draper

Irene Rose Draper, 76, passed away on April 3, 2023. She was born in Pella, Iowa on December 14, 1946 to William and Willemina (Hoekman) Kelderman.

She was married to Bruce Draper and they had three children. Irene loved her family and her church. She and Bruce lived in community with their family in Urbandale for nearly 20 years. In retirement, she helped her daughters and enjoyed spending time with friends. Irene will be deeply missed.

Irene is survived by her husband, Bruce; son, Buddy (Kristi) Draper; daughters, Tammy (Danny) Clark and Nicki (Guy) Varble; sister, Edna Jones; grandsons, Patrick (Megan) Kennedy, Billy Varble and Josiah Varble; granddaughters, Katy (Dylan) Dolch, Makenzie Draper, Maddie Draper and Bea Varble; great-granddaughter, Kora Dolch.


She was proceeded in death by her parents, William Kelderman and Willemina (Hoekman) Kelderman, her brothers, Wayne (Maxine) Kelderman, Melvin (Barb) Kelderman and Leroy (Lois) Kelderman and her sister, Joann (Roger) Phaudenhauer.

Visitation will be held at Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Moines. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 10:00 with a luncheon to follow at Reach Church, 2725 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. A private burial, for her family, will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.

In lieu of memorium donations Irene loved flowers. Flowers and plants would be most appreciated by the family.
