Richard "Dick" Stout
April 02, 2023
Richard “Dick” Stout, 85, passed away on April 2, 2023, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Dick was born on August 30, 1937, in Des Moines the son of Jackson and Stella (Davies) Stout. He drove a truck his whole life but his favorite was driving a beer truck. Dick and Sharon had one of the popular spots in the neighborhood, which gave them many more “sons and daughters” who spent more time at their house than at their own.
He loved hockey and coached youth boys' ice hockey. He loved racing go-karts, putting together puzzles, playing pitch, and cribbage, and taking everyone’s money. Above all, he loved his children.
Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Ron (Julia), Rhonda (Garrett), Darren (Shelly), Ryan (Rochelle); grandchildren, Taylor (Brandon), Kalen, Davis, Ayla (Tyler), Lynsi (Ryan), Deanne, Tiffany (John), and Geoffrey; great-grandchildren, Sedella, Alayla, Wyatt, Archie, Maggie, and Tucker; and many honorary children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Pickett; and sons, Michael and Richard.
A celebration of life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6567 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, 50320 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Dick.

So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Many fond memories of our time in the neighborhood. Many volleyball games and general neighborhood get togethers. Cliff remembers the hockey games (and the fights), so many memories, too many to list. Our hearts go out to all of those who loved him. He was loved his family above all.

Spending time with Uncle Dick & Aunt Sharon was always fun. I learned so many things to yell at the Referees on an off the rink! Also where to fight with the opposition when they went into the locker room! Well at first we were suppose to go get Uncle Dick...but that wasn't what ended up! I also remember going to the Fairground Races and helping hauling kegs of Beer. Of course Dick had to make sure they were tapped right, then give us the rest of the cup! We always had fun! My sympathy goes out to his family & all of his friends! He will be missed by all!

Nothing but great memories with the Stout family. Dick was a fantastic hockey coach and kept it fun. He and Sharon always welcomed my brother and myself into their home. Thinking of you all.

Dick and Sharon opened up their house to me when I was younger and I had nothing but great memories from my times with the Stouts. Dick would always ensure that we would get to our hockey games safely with having plenty of fun.
Thanks, Dick and you will certainly be missed.
