John Bryan Davis
March 06, 2023
John Bryan Davis was born on November 16, 1939 to Estle B. and Emma Louise (Smith) Davis in Phoebus, VA. He entered eternal life with his family by his side on March 6, 2023 after years of battling cancer to the very end.
After graduating from Summerville High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force for which he served proudly. After leaving the Air Force, while in Waterloo, IA, he met his wife Karla Kay Busse whom he was married to for 53 years.
John was a respected businessman who purchased North-Central Adjustment in 1970, and proceeded to expand the family business throughout Iowa and the adjoining states. After moving on from the family business, he enjoyed another successful career managing catastrophe claims for Pilot Catastrophe until his retirement. On a professional and personal level, John positively influenced the lives of many throughout the years.
He had a passion for sponsoring slow pitch softball and flag football teams throughout the 1980’s and led them to National Prominence along with a National Championship. His steadfast support of his teams and their sports eventually led to him being inducted into the Urbandale Softball Hall of Fame.
John will forever be cherished by his wife, Karla Davis; Sons, Bryan (Jana) Davis and Chad (Heather) Davis; grandchildren, Travis & Trevor Davis, Cade & Leah Davis and Rex & Jack Davis. While John loved each and every one of his dogs throughout the years, Tiger John was his loyal friend and faithful companion until the end.
John was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Estelle and Billy.
As per John’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. He will be celebrated by family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines, IA or Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa in loving memory of John.
