Marvin H. Sievers

Marvin Henry Sievers passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Redlands, California at the age of 81.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at Avon Cemetery.

Marvin was born November 27, 1941, in Charles City, Iowa to Ervin Marvin Sievers and Helen (Zubrod) Sievers. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in June of 1961. Marvin married Carolyn Kay (McVey) on May 18, 1968. He was a truck driver for 35 years and was a member of the Teamsters.

He had a passion for cars. Marvin loved going to car shows, watching all types of racing, and watching and participating in Sprint Car races. His favorite pastimes included traveling and camping.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sievers; daughter, Melissa Battista; and his granddaughter, Hailey Battista.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Helen Sievers.
