Gary Bianchi
January 18, 2023
On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Gary L. Bianchi went Home to spend eternity with his mother Linda, father Giulio, two brothers, Angelo and David, and all of his in-laws, mother-in-law Emily, father-in-law Oren, sister-in-law Deb and brother-in-law Dave.
Born in Des Moines, Gary was a true, south-side Italian who never hesitated to give his opinion to anyone and everyone on anything and everything. After graduating from Dowling High School, Gary joined the army. He served in the reserves and eventually retired from the Department of the Army (Fort Des Moines) as a Mechanical Engineer.
He was an avid golfer who loved to spend time at Blank Golf Course with his buddies. He also loved watching western movies & tv shows. Gary especially enjoyed family time in Knoxville at the raceway and watching all of his grandchildren’s sports & activities.
Gary enjoyed researching holistic living and healing, and his great love for animals is the reason that we ask all donations made in his name be sent to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Karen; sons, Jeffrey (Shari) and Joseph (Paula) Bianchi; grandchildren, Taylor (Summer), Zach, Jacob, Nick, and Aubrey and a host of extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 210 S. Wesley Street in Indianola. The family will greet friends from 10 am to 11 am at the church. Gary will be laid to rest with military honors at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 7601 Fleur Dr. in Des Moines. Following the committal service, you are invited to join in a celebration of life for Gary at Blank Golf Course.

My condolences to Karen, Jeff, Joe and the rest of your family. I have many fond memories of Gary and his brother Angelo coaching my son at South Des Moines Little League. We learned a lot about baseball from him, and enjoyed many hours watching our sons play ball together. Gary was obviously a good husband and father too. He and Karen raised two of the finest young men Ive ever had the pleasure of knowing, and Im sure they will miss him greatly. May he rest in the Peace of Christ.

My condolences to Gary's family. He was a friend of my brother Bill. In the middle 1970's he showed his kindness by giving us the keys to 69 Thayer St.at Ft Des Moines which was the Glynn family home from 1946 to 1956 so that we could tour it. I still remember the looks on my parents face as we reminisced of our life there .We even found a couple of toys that were left behind in our play room in the back. Rest in peace Gary.

My favorite childhood memories are of Gary and Harry Perkins, who are together now with all of our families and friends. My sympathies to all of Gary' family and hopes for the future. Gary was a very gifted athlete, and I always admired him a lot. I miss my friends so very much.
