Virginia "Ginny" Mauk

Virginia Rae (Eddinger) Mauk, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Eldora Specialty Care in Eldora, Iowa.
Ginny was born June 7, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa to Clinton and Evelyn “Polly” Eddinger. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She worked for Mercy Hospital as a Pharmacy Tech for 20 years. She then was a medical receptionist for a pediatric office in Des Moines, before becoming a stay-at-home grandma, caring for her grandchildren. She had a home daycare for many years called Grandma Ginny’s Daycare. Ginny loved being in her yard, gardening, growing plants and flowers, and mowing. She enjoyed crocheting and crafting. She made porcelain dolls in her younger years. Ginny was known for her homemade chicken and noodles and her delicious batter bread. Above all, she loved her family and cherished her grandchildren.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 37 years, David; children, Michael Black, Michelle (John) Courtney-Leno, Jennifer (Bob) Harmon, Matthew (Shelly) Mauk, and Therese Lewis; grandchildren, Celeste Black, Kaleb Courtney, Noah Courtney, Carsyn Leno, Cassidy Leno, Brady (Mallory) Harmon, Blake (Emma) Harmon, Scott Mauk, and Tasha Jordan; great-grandchildren, Brooke Marion String, Jacob James Dunavan, and Robert TC String; great-great-grandchild, Alán Benjamin Barbosa; sisters, Esther Schierholz, Mary (Sherman) Allen, and Evelyn “Mickey” Johnston; and many other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Evelyn “Polly” Eddinger; brothers, Larry Eddinger, Ray Lee Bear, and William Eddinger; sister, Myrtle Lawrence; and her first husband, Marion Kent Black.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, also at Hamilton’s. Burial will follow at Cory Cemetery in Elkhart, Iowa.

Dave, We will always remember Ginny and her projects around the house, the porcelain Dolls she made and of course her Flowers. She was a
funny lady who just liked to be with people and have fun💞. She wil be truly missed!!!

David she will be miss. I love her laugh and her smile. She is a very good friend and family. U married my best friend sister. My heart goes out to u and the family. One of these days we will be together in heaven with the rest of the family. Love u all.
