December 30, 2022
Linda S. Chapman, 76, passed away December 30, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will be held for Wayne R. Chapman and Linda at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery, 1060 S. Oakwood Ave. in Geneseo, Illinois, followed by a luncheon at Grace United Methodist Church at 318 N. Linda was born September 16, 1946 to MayLou Andresen and Harold Burgston in Moline, Illinois. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1964 and retired as an administrative assistant at Roth & CO, PC. She enjoyed wood carving, pottery, basket weaving and traveling with Wayne in their RV. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching their activities.
She made many friends at the ballparks while she cheered on her family over the years. She was known for sharing watermelon, good luck suckers and peanuts with her bleacher friends and the teams she supported.
The Mission Cancer team were some of her biggest supporters and she appreciated their encouragement.
Left to mourn her loss are children, Brad (Kris) Chapman of Eau Claire, WI, Amy (Reggie) Stalzer of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Hayley and Payton Chapman and Calvin, Claire and Casey Stalzer; her brother, Richard (Charen) Burgston of Spring Hill, FL; stepmother, Helen Burgston of Geneseo, IL; step-siblings; nieces; great-nieces and nephews; and many other family, friends, and coworkers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Simone Chapman; and her husband, Wayne.

I worked with Linda at Roth & Company P.C. the whole time she worked there and cannot express how much she meant to me and the whole culture of the office! We were fortunately able to have two boys (her grandsons) going thru baseball and football at the same time and she and Wayne were always mainstays! They were the salt of the earth and will be missed! Our thoughts and prayers to your family and wish we could make the trip. GOD Bless you Linda you did it better than any one!

We were so sorry to hear of Lindas passing. May you all feel comfort and support like my mom felt from Linda as they navigated their cancer journeys. We heard so much about how Linda made her feel better, and we wish the same comfort for you.

I was absolutely heartbroken when I was told Linda passed away. I will miss seeing her and talking with her. Even when she felt terrible she would still have a smile on her face. My condolences to her family.

Linda and Wayne were such great people. His earlier passing brought us sadness. We were fortunate to know them as some of our Rincon friends. Linda was always there for others. Such a selfless, strong woman. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Gods grace will see you through.
