Terese Stephenson

Terese E. Stephenson passed away December 19, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Hospital due to a non-traumatic brain hemorrhage at the age of 39.
Terese was born in Des Moines on December 30, 1982. She graduated from Norwalk High School and went on to receive her associate’s degree. Terese worked for Principal Financial Group for almost 18 years and currently in Dental claims. She enjoyed being a mom to Gage and Greyah while supporting them in all their passions and activities including dance, baseball, soccer, track, and most recently being a Swim Mom, Band/ Orchestra Mom, and the longest of them all, a Scout Mom/Wife.
She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at the age of 27. After several surgeries, eight treatments of chemo, and 33 treatments of radiation, she beat it carrying a smile on her face the whole time. Terese and her family decided to donate several parts of her for the Iowa Donor Network.
Terese is survived by her amazing husband John, children Gage and Greyah, 4 legged family S'mores, Sherbet, Husker and Hartley, parents Deeann and Ronald Richards, step brothers Rob (Michelle) and Ken (Hazel) Richards, parents in law Charles and Ruth Stephenson, John’s birth mom Lisa McLaren (Don), brother in law Jason (Kristina) Stephenson, a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and amazing friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Vincent Hughes, her sister Nicolle Stephenson, and her first 4 legged child Diesel.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Casey, Iowa.

Thank you for all of your love and support over the years. Im so grateful for the good times we shared and even more thankful for the lessons you taught me. I wish you had more time and my heart truly breaks for John, Gage, Greyah and the rest of the family. I hope you find peace. We all miss you and love you very much.

You brightened up a room where ever you were. You had a heart of gold. I saw how invested you were with your family and admired you for that. You were a warrior queen until the end and Ill never forget you. Im just grateful God enabled me to work with you for so many years.
