Loretta D. Pike

Heaven gained an angel on the evening of Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Loretta Deloris Pike, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The family is comforted knowing she is at peace and pain-free.

Loretta was born August 27, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ruben and Luella (Wilson) Rooker. It is fitting that Loretta will be celebrated during her favorite time of the year – the Christmas season. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Loretta enjoyed shopping and gave many donations to Community Church of Christ. Giving was her favorite thing to do. She also enjoyed fishing, taking drives, gambling, and going to the races. Loretta was musical in her younger years, performing in the “Rainbow Rockers” with her siblings.

She will be forever loved and remembered by her three children, Bobbie Pike, Christina Pike (David Myers), and Robert H. Pike, Jr.; her grandchildren, Robert Myers (Erin), Jordan Myers, Lacey Dunn (Brandon), Cyndi Pike (Dominic), and Robert H. Pike III; her great-grandchildren, Keagan, Payton, Alexis, Emma, Kylie, Isabellah, Iilayah, and Jada; many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many loving friends.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Luella Rooker; husband, Robert “Bob” “Frog” H. Pike, Sr.; daughter, JoAnn Soccio; son, Robert A. Pike; sister, Nellie Cogley; and her brothers, Charles Rooker and Robert Rooker.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at St. Croix Hospice, especially nurses Shelby, Lori, and Melissa, for the loving care of Loretta and the family during her final days.
