Jacquelyn Starr, 71, passed away on November 18, 2022, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist.
Jacquelyn was born on August 11, 1951, to Wilbur and Marguerite Courtney.
She liked George Strait, Elvis, bowling, and going out to eat “as long as she didn’t have to make it.” She loved her grandchildren, family, and her dog, Bandit; he took up a lot of her time. She was a very stubborn lady but thoroughly enjoyed harassing her friends and family members.
Jacquelyn is survived by her children Michael (Tracy) Starr and Patrick Starr; grandchildren, Andrew (Tiffany) Starr and Cheyanne Starr; granddaughter-in-law, Christal Starr; six great-grandchildren; and a host of extended loving family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Butch” Starr; parents; parents-in-law, Oren and Iona Starr; grandson, Brandon Starr; siblings, James Courtney and Anita Stokes.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Jacquelyn will be laid to rest following the service at 2:00 pm at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

Years ago, I enjoyed working with Jackie for she was very helpful and dedicated at her job. I also recall her planning to retire. Sad to hear of her passing. Your family will be in my prayers. May the Lord give you comfort. "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all mercies, and the God of all comfort." 2 Corinthians 1:3

I lived across the street from Jackies home on SE 15th St. for many years watching Mike and Pat grow up to become parents themselves. Cherish the memories of your mom and dad always being there for you. Rest In Peace Jackie!

I had the pleasure of knowing Jackie since she started going to Trixies when I was 16. Later on I got to be her stylist and she became one of my favorite guest. My chair wont be the same without her. Ill miss her presence as well as her stories about her family and Bandit. Im thankful she chose me to be her stylist for so many years. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys. Im so extremely thankful that our last appointment together was one of the longest amount of times we ever spent together. ❤
