Duane D. Edge

Duane Dale Edge, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston while under the care of UnityPoint Hospice.

Duane was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 12, 1948 to Marvin and Beverley (Larsen) Edge. He grew up in the oldest part of West Des Moines in a lovely residential neighborhood with his parents and two siblings. As a child, he was known for being quiet and spent a lot of time with his childhood best friends – Raulie, Doug, and Stanley. He attended Valley High School in the old brick building in the Valley Junction area. Later in life he moved out to California on his motorcycle with his best friend, Stanley. He met more new friends and had some boating adventures in the waters off the west coast.

Duane was a hard worker for the majority of his life and spent about 35 years dedicated to working at Nott Company in the conveyor belt industry before retiring. He was an excellent woodworker and created some beautiful projects for his wife and home. For many years he could be found working on plenty of projects around the home or tilling and tending to his large, prized vegetable garden where he grew lettuce, cucumbers, zucchinis and carrots.

He adored his many family pet cats throughout his life. In his later years, he enjoyed relaxing and watching plenty of television, with the History Channel and movies from the 60s and 70s being a favorite.

He was often heard saying his prayers to God.

Duane is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Nicole, sister Connie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Beverly and his brother Larry.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in Duane’s name.
