Steve "Buckwheat" Rumley, 57, died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at his home from Lou Gehrig’s Disease /ALS. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2009, at Norwalk United Methodist Church, 1801 Sunset Drive, with burial to follow at Norwalk Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Steve was born July 18, 1952, to Earnest and Janice Rumley in Perry. He graduated from Perry High School in 1974 and joined the Army National Guard where he served seven years. In May 1974, he began his long career as a conductor with the CNW Railroad and retired from the UP Railroad in August 2008. He was a member of the UTU. Steve was an avid Cyclone, Rams, and Cardinals fan and enjoyed fishing and boating. His greatest love came with his wife, his family, and his career.

Steve is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sandy Rumley; sons, Justin (Annie) Rumley, Dan (Heather) Frank, and Adam (Natalie) Frank; step-daughter, Shari (Darin) Nelson; grandchildren, Kylie and Kayden Frank; mother, Janice (Larry) Bice; brothers, Curt (Cindi) Rumley and Pat (Becky) Rumley; sister, Annette (Mike) Pote; many nieces; nephews; and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Rumley Jr.
