Patricia Carmichael

Patricia Jo Ann (Houseman) Carmichael, 85, became an angel on September 3, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Pat was born August 14, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Darrell Houseman and Ruth (Hendrickson) Vincent. Pat lived most of her life in Des Moines, Iowa. She retired from Allied Van Lines and moved to Florida, missing family brought her back to Iowa.

She attended Lincoln High School on the south side of Des Moines. With a flat tire on the side of the road she met Charles (Chick) Carmichael, they married November 10, 1956. They would have been together 67 years this year! To this union they had 3 daughters, Pam, Cathy, and Kelly Carmichael.

Patty Jo loved spending time with family. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Johnnie Wright, Jr., Jared Wright, Miranda Davis, and Kattie Heggen. They gave her 6 great-grandchildren, Dakoda Wright (John), Lilyan and Paisley Wright (Jared), Danial, Emma and Charlie Needels (Miranda and Dan Needels) and her fur baby Peanut.

Pat loved watching her kids grow, never missed a ballgame or school function. Then she got to do it again with the greats. She had a front row seat at softball and volleyball games.

She loved being on the go, loved her Bingo, family gatherings, and playing games. She got her love of sewing from her mother. She was an avid reader, and loved a good romance book.

She was always very involved with family, there for them no matter what. She was deeply loved and cherished and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her partner of 67 years, Charles Carmichael; daughters, Cathy and Kelly Carmichael; step-daughter, Pamela Carmichael all of Des Moines. California family, sister, Sherry (Vincent) Alvarado; niece, Christina (Alvarado) Sands; nephews, Michael and Nick Alvarado, Chris Nomura. In Des Moines, nephew, Jack Carmichael; niece, Tara Houseman; nephews, Ronnie and Brett Houseman; many great nieces and nephews.

She was met at the gates of Heaven by her mother and step-father, Ruth and Floyd Vincent; father and step-mother, Darrell and Lois Houseman; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald Houseman, Sr. and Jeannie; sister, Shirley Nomura; nephew, Rick Carmichael

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Norwoodville Community Center from 1-4 p.m.
