Kennis LaWaine Rogness, 82, went to be with His Lord and Savior on September 1, 2022 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Visititation will take place from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street in Des Moines with funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10 at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Joice, IA.

Kennis was born at home April 1, 1940, “April Fool’s Day”, to Henry and Luella Rogness in Joice, IA. He attended a one room school house and went on to graduate from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, MN. He married Dixie Lea Bauer of Mason City, IA and from this union four children were born. Kennis retired from Massey-Ferguson as a Training Specialist and was the owner of Televideo Productions. He was a proud member of Grace Church.

In his spare time Kennis enjoyed keeping busy. He enjoyed remodeling houses, rebuilding automobiles and found serenity in hours of mowing. He like to travel, taking a trip to Israel and going on many different cruises. He was an avid golfer most of his life and he and Dixie enjoyed being snowbirds in Palm Springs.

Being with his family was what he enjoyed the most. Family reunions and get togethers, playing games with friends and family or just sharing a slice of pie were all part of Kennis’s life. He loved attending his grandchildren’s events and activities.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Lea Rogness; his children, Todd (Brenda) Rogness, Beth (Reggie) Coleman, Lori (Rogness) Cao, and Julie (Steve) Davis; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Rollin Rogness and Burdean Rogness; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, LaVerne Rogness, Richard Rogness, Glen Rogness and Marcus Rogness, his sister, Maureen Roth, and his granddaughter, Amber Barrick.
