Rochelle Hoopes
August 12, 2022
Rochelle Marie (Carson) Hoopes left us to join her husband, Merrill on August 12, 2022.
She was a proud owner of Indianola Barbershop and loved being involved with her community. She supported the Special Olympics by participating in the Polar Plunge every year. She was a member and Commodore of Rathbun Yacht Club. She carried on her Grammie’s traditions of bowling for the Noah’s Arc team with her family along with the love and joy she had when baking all her yummy treats for the holidays. She was a social butterfly, who never met a stranger. She had the sharpest of tongues but the warmest of hearts, she was our little sour patch kid. Her obsession for shoes and jewelry was unmatched, the more it sparkled, the better. What she may not have known was that she was a diamond to everyone who loved her, a constant shimmer of love and light.
Rochelle is survived by her sons, James (Josi) Hoopes and Michael (Jessica) Hoopes; step-sons, Ernie, Eric, and Eldon; siblings, Tonya Albizo, Anthony (Christina) Albizo, and Christopher (Kit) Carson; and her mother, Deborah Richmond.
Preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Merrill Hoopes; her father, Craig Carson; and grandparents, Bill and Francis (Tootsie) Powell.
The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. also at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Rochelle.

So sad to hear this news of one of my Lake Rathbun boating family members. Her generosity and bubbly personality was so appreciated and may that memory be held in all our hearts.

Rochelle always had a smile and a warm welcome when you walked into her shop. Her spunkiest was the one characteristic that I appreciated the most. She was never afraid to share her thoughts. Prayers for the family! Rochelle will be deeply missed!
