William F. Carter, Jr.

William F. Carter, Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown on Friday, August 5, 2022.

William was born November 22, 1946 in Spencer, Iowa to William Fred Carter, Sr. and Maxine Grace (Hadley) Carter. He proudly served in the Navy Seabees. He was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and then did two tours in Vietnam. William went on to serve in the Army National Guard.

William worked as a tire builder/forklift operator for Firestone in Des Moines for many years prior to his retirement in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Carter; sons, Clinton, Corey, and Craig Carter; sisters, Marilyn (Carter) Farley, Sandra (Carter) Stolz, and Cindy (Carter) Smith; and other extended family and friends.

According to his wishes, William will be cremated and there will be no formal services held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
