Service Details

Kobi Shayne Ozimek, age 24, passed unexpectedly due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Kobi was born December 29, 1997, in Des Moines, Iowa. Kobi was a loving son and a friend to all. Just being around Kobi made you feel brighter. He had this amazing ability to make others feel like they mattered and that they were loved. Kobi loved animals and was a proud dog dad to Diesel. Growing up Kobi enjoyed playing a variety of sports. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings. Kobi had a chance to go see them both. Kobi was an avid gamer and enjoyed watching anime. His favorites were Naruto and DragonBall Z. Kobi was a sneakerhead, but a fresh pair of white vans was always his go to. Kobi felt most at peace while riding his motorcycle or driving his Camaro. His happiest moments were when he got to see his mom, his cousins, and his aunt.

Tough times never bothered him the way it might for most people. When things got hard Kobi was taught to just try and be better than the day before. Kobi kept trying, but he never got the break that he deserved. Kobi tried to always make the right decisions and was humble in a time of need, and selfless in a time of despair, but his true character can be found in the definition of Grit.

He is survived by his mother, Brittny Pinegar (Frank Griffey); father, Joshua Stubbs; aunt, Katie Smuck; uncles, Sam Smuck, Ryan Pinegar, and Tony Pinegar; his cousins, Kingston Williams and Oliver Smuck; as well as his grandpas, Pat Pinegar and Alan Ozimek.

Kobi was preceded in death by his grandmas, Connie Fidler and Phyllis Ozimek.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, also at the funeral home.
