David D. Hatfield

David Dwight Hatfield, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at his home in Carlisle with his family by his side.

David was born July 6, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Navy.

David was all about family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. His grandson, Thomas, was his pride and joy. David had an ornery streak and loved to tease and harass the people that he loved. His favorite thing was to spend time with his beloved wife of 48 years, Debra.

David liked going to Prairie Meadows. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tinkering around the house. He was a talented carpenter and he loved all animals, but especially his basset hound, Daisy.

He is survived by his daughter Patricia Hatfield, grandson Thomas Bell, mother Wanda Shortell, and his sisters Virginia Birkonholz and Karen Barnekow.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Debra Kay Hatfield and father Ralph Hatfield.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
