Stephen "Steve" Lee

Stephen Carl Lee, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 5, 2022 from complications of Multiple Sclerosis.
Steve was born on July 12, 1950 to Wilbur and Helen Lee in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from North High School in 1968. After school, Steve served in the United States Army from 1970-1972. He enjoyed being outdoors, taking his children fishing, hunting, or trips to the lake to swim. He was also a huge sports fan and loved to bet on his favorite teams.
Steve is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen; and his children, Brian Lee (Chris Schmitz), Jason Lee, Bridget (Jon) Trogdon, Jessica Lee (Joe Stout), Benjamin (Erica) Lee and Jeffrey Lee; his sisters, Marilyn Bergeson, Norma (Lou) Salem; grandchildren, Shawn and Kaylee Brown, Hunter and Grace Lee, Breanna and Jaxson Trogdon, and Adam Lee.
In Addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Pauline Steinbach, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Paulette Ihrig, Alan (Alice) Steinbach, Cindy (Dan) McDonough, Caroline Buckroyd, Cheryl (Scott) Temple, Claudia (Mark) VanDerSluis, Clarice Steinbach (Scott McPherson); Along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Helen Lee; brothers-in-law, Ed Bergeson, Larry Ihrig, Scott Buckroyd, Donnie Steinbach and Christopher Steinbach; father-in-law, Donald Steinbach; daughter, Bernadette Lee; and son, Jonathan Lee.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

To Kathy and family, Marilyn and family, and Norma and family. Our deepest condolences to you all for your loss of Steve. Life threw him many obstacles/challenges, but he was always strong. Hes in Paradise now. No more pain and at peace. He and Bernadette can be together again. May you find peace, strength and healing in the days ahead.
