May 30, 2022
Jeraldine “Jeri” M. (Atherton) Brown, 88, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with a burial to follow in the Bondurant Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Jeri was born March 8, 1934, to Ora and Laura Atherton on the family farm in rural Bondurant where she continued to live till her death. Jeri graduated from Bondurant High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jerry, at Bondurant Christian Church. They were the first couple to be married in the newly built church.
Jeri and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the country, almost making it to all 50 states, and also to Mexico, Spain, the Bahamas, and many other places. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and attended the Christian Women’s Club. Jeri looked forward to her monthly luncheons with a neighbor group of women called the “Birthday Club”. She flipped a few houses before it was a “thing” and loved her cats. Her greatest joy came from spending time and making memories with her family.
Jeri is survived by her daughters, Kyle (Mike Booth) Carney, and Kristyn Brown; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald “Jerry”; daughters, Jill and Leslianne; grandson, Shaun; and six sisters.

I am Lucille Pollock's granddaughter. My mother is Dolores Mull. I just learned of Jeri's passing and wanted to reach out. Mom and I were just talking about her awhile back and wondered how she was doing. Please accept our sympathies on your loss! She was a lovely person and we enjoyed visiting with her along with all of the family there.
