Buck Bos
May 01, 2022
Buck Bos, 63, passed away May 1, 2022, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born April 16, 1959, to Leon and Alda Bos.
Well I have been planning for this day for a long time and it has finally come. I love it when a plan comes together!!!!
I have had a few accomplishments in my life.
I graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1977 and served on the reunion committee for 40 years. During my senior year of high school, I started my roofing business. I worked in roofing for 35 years, learned all the construction trades, becoming a master of some and average at others. I also worked on and off as an electrician for ten years. I owned and operated Buck’s Bar and Grill from 2009-2011 and voted #1 tenderloin in the state of Iowa in 2010. Since 2012 I have done remodeling and handy man services. I’ve met thousands of people over the years and learned something from each one of them.
I had a couple ex-wives, no need to mention names.
My advice to the living is BE KIND, OPEN DOORS, RESPECT LIFE AND PEOPLE, and LOVE OFTEN.
I most enjoyed cooking, gardening, big game hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Above all, I loved and cherished the time I spent with the people who were close to me.
Please don’t judge me until you have walked in my shoes. I have lived a great life and would not trade it for anything but quality of life is everything.
Buck is survived by his son, Ryan (Stephanie) Bos, daughter, Lacy Hansen (Dan Bales); sister, Julie Bos; brother, Jeff (Angela) Bos; parents, Leon and Alda Bos; grandson, Bucky Kendall; and his dog, Shilo; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilda and Marvin Neely and Henry and Marie Bos.
The family will greet friends at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Warren-Powers Cemetery in Adelphi, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Buck.

Buck you were one of a kind. I first met you on vacation in Jamaica. That year we did battle of the sexes and it came down to you and I. After we talked for hours until late in the morning. I got to know you so well that night. We spent several more vacations together and had a blast on all of them. Especially the day we all drank shots..Ill never forget you and your 5 sister wives in Cancun. You will be missed by everyone that met you. But you have made a lasting memory in everyones life that every met. I know you are hunting elk and mushroom hunting now. RIP my friend.

May I extend my heartfelt sympathy. I was so sorry to hear of Buck's passing. My memories of Buck are from Triangle Lanes in Colax. My husband, daughter, son -in-law, and I bowled in a league with Buck as part of the Mitchellville Moonlighters. We had alot of fun in those days with a great bunch of people who quickly became our good friends. I remember Buck having a very unique "beverage dispenser" at our parties. Buck was one of those great guys with a good heart and fun loving spirit. He will be missed.

Jeff, there are no words to say to describe or fathom the feelings of losing a sibling. Of course , we don't want to let go of our parents, our foundations, the rocks that formed "us". Our brother and sister also made us to be who we are now too, but they are "supposed to be there!". Especially when you are the youngest. But God has his plans, He only knows. He gave His Gift to your parents and Julie and you. Reading his obituary, which actually made me smile and laugh, (apologies for intruding in your grief) I feel Buck wrote it himself, seems to me, God called his servant home. The sun seems to shine a bit more often now , and the sunrises and sunsets seem alot more colorful suddenly, maybe that is because of your brother shining his light to you to let you know, It's okay! He's doing very well. But he also knows you all are not. So please, look UP! Know he's there and you all will be together again in Glory! Prayers to you and your parents to feel peace and comfort in the cherished memories of the love and laughter your brother gave to you.

Buck was the best neighbor we have ever had. He helped the older people in the neighborhood, shared produce from his garden, brought homemade sweets at Christmas. I asked him once if there was anything he couldn't do and jokingly said, I suppose you can sing too? Only a little karaoke, he said with a smile. We've lived next door for several years and wish we would have gotten to know him better. We always think there is more time. We will miss seeing him and Shilo playing in the yard. She is such a good dog and I'm sure she is missing him too. It sounds from the condolences that he was a very important person to many people. I hope he is now at peace.

Buck oh Buck, I can hear you read that obit so clearly. I can hear you chuckle and smile as doing so. As I said before you were one of a kind and will forever hold a special place in my heart. I thank you my friend for being there for me when Frankie left this earth his way. You held onto me for seemed like hours. I am thankful for our friendship and time on this earth. May your special spirit surround all of us while we grieve your absence. Give Frank a big bear hug "Buck style" for me and I'll see you when I see you! Love you my friend.
