Michael Laurie, age 42, passed away on April 20, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on October 2, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Michael graduated from East High School and was a coach at SEDM Boxing Club. Michael was the manager of Taco John’s in Altoona and worked as a painter for QSI (Quality Striping Inc) for 17 years. Some of his hobbies and interests included his love of muscle cars and playing video games. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. His bright smile, kind heart and contagious laughter will be missed.
He is lovingly survived by his children AJ Laurie, Shianne Laurie, Brandon (Lindsey) Madren, and Jordan Laurie, grandson Mason Madren, girlfriend Candie Killen, father Tom Laurie, mother Brenda Ramirez, maternal grandmother Kathy Sullivan, siblings Jimmy Laurie, Tonya Laurie, Wendy Laurie, and Brandon Ramirez, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather Gary Sullivan, Sr.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2022 also, at the funeral home followed by a private family burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Mike was a good guy I appreciated him so much because he was my mom's best friend he was there for her when she needed most and was always trying to help him I didn't know him that long bit he knew my mom ad my mom was always saying good stuff about him it is sad to see him go but now he is in a forever home with God he is probably having a good time with all of his loved one's and I know he is happy to see my mom again I know he loved all of you and he will be watching down and making sure you all are save may he rest in peace

Dang brother life is not fair. I thought you had this fight in the books and was ready to make a recovery. God needed you for some reason thats for sure. Fly high and keep your loved ones safe. RIP
