Southida “Pinky” Simahano, 39, passed away peacefully Tueday, April 5th, 2022 at her home in Ankeny.
Pinky was born March 25th, 1983 in Des Moines, IA to Khampuey and Chanty Simahano.
Family was Pinky's first priority. She loved all of her family who were her world. Pinky worked for the state of Iowa and had a part time job at a local grocery store. She would always find the good in people and try to help as much as she could no matter how tired she was. She was selfless, always trying to help others by bring them lunch, running their errands, covering shifts and sometime just lending an ear. She was the type of person that would always have your back and never complained and no matter how hard life was, she was always have a smile on her face because that is the type of person she was.
Pinky favorite past times and hobbies were traveling. She was a huge fan of Vegas, always trying to make it there for her birthday. She always liked to travel to the coasts to see the ocean. Her favorite things to do every where she went was to try all the different kinds of foods and go to as many buffetts as she can fit into one trip. Food was her joy as long as she had someone to share it and many people know that very well. She loved going to concerts and singing along with the perfomers and one of her favorite artists was Pink, who she saw a few times in her lifetime. The State Fair had to be one of her favorite events to attend each year other than birthday and Christmas. She loved people watching and would go there to enjoy all the yummy foods. She would at least go five times a year. When she wasn't out and about or working, she would also enjoy cooking a lot of her favorite foods, sitting on her couch to watch one of her girly movies and end it with a good nap.
She is survived by her mother, Chanty; brother, Phoutasone and other loving relatives and many special friends.
A two hour celebration of life will begin at 5:00pm, Friday, April 8, 2022 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

It was an honor to be part of her care team for many many years. She showed such grace over the years. Always kind and a pleasure to care for. May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.

My friend brought this to my attention. I know her brother and feel so sorry for the family. She was definitely too young. She is the same age as my children. My prayers are with your family. Helen Thull

Pinky--you were one of my longest friends, in a fast pace world where friends sometimes come and they go as quickly or often as the years themselves. We became closer friends after high school, and managed to keep in contact with one another all these years since. I still laugh at the last time we saw each other when we ran into one another at Double Dragon a few months back; you have me so much grief over my refusal to make a social media account, because "a true friend uses Facebook or Instagram to communicate!!" Made me laugh so hard in that moment ❤. I always felt so inspired after talking to you and your courageous, valiant fight and how much grace you continued to ALWAYS show in its face. You always managed to keep an upbeat attitude toward everything in life no matter your fight, and you chose to live your life with grace that, my friend, is what I choose to carry with me forever. Rest easy and pain free Pinky ❤
