Robert Lestor

Bob (Robert) Lestor, age 75, of Sun City West, AZ (Altoona, IA) passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at Valley View Village, Des Moines, IA.

Bob was born November 8, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Marvin and Gladys Lestor. Bob graduated from Bloomington High School and continued his education at Concordia College at Moorhead, Minnesota. He earned his Eagle Scout in 1961; scouting was a big part of his younger years. His father had the Lestor Insurance Agency so Bob grew up answering the family phone to take car changes or messages for his Dad. As an adult his primary position was an Account Executive for AT&T.

Bob was a true Minnesota boy going to the cabin on weekends and loved fishing, camping, hunting and snowmobiling. Bob married Denise Dean December 26, 1987. They had a wonderful life together with many laughs, travels, pets and friends. Camping, fishing, waterskiing, snow skiing, golf, bowling, cards, casinos, theater, crime/detective shows, singing, RV’ing and travel were Bob’s joys. His biggest joy was his children who he loved more than anything and greatly missed when they moved to Illinois.

People will remember Bob as a kind, loving, intelligent and funny person who loved people and knew how to tell a good joke or those special ‘one liners’. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Altoona Christian Church, 2890, 1 Ave South, Altoona.

In memory of Bob and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated to a Lewy Body Dementia research/education program.
