Thomas Dalpe, 68, died at home Saturday, October 24, 2009.
Thomas was born January 24, 1941 in Windsor, Ontario. He served in the Royal Canadian Regiment for seven years. Thomas moved to Des Moines in the 1960's. He worked for the Marriott Hotel and recently retired as Head of Security from Ruan Transportation after over 20 years of service.
Thomas is survived by his son, Robert (Susan) Dalpe: grandchildren, Peter and Jamie; great-granddaughter, Zaklyn; brothers, Russell of River Canard, Ontario, Lawrence (Geneva) of Belleville, Ontario, Eugene (Phyllis) of Leamington, Ontario and Ken of Belleville, Ontario. He was preceded in death by son, Paul; parents George and Ida Marie; and his brothers, Walter and Don.

To Tom's family and friends,
I have worked with tom since April 1997. When he retired this ywar, I realized how much of a part of the "ruan family" he really was. It did'nt seem the same without seeing him daily.He would come in get his paper and then hibernate in his office enjoying his morning coffee and paper for the next hour and a half. I have worked in the control room for the last few years, but when i worked with him, he could be a pain at times but had a decent heart. IT won't be the same without him here...

To the family of Thomas Dalpe,
I had the pleasure of visiting with Tom in the lobby of the Ruan building for several years. I drop off mail at the security guard's desk each day and always enjoyed talking to Tom for a few minutes when he was working. He was very proud of his new great-granddaughter. He showed me pictures of her. I've missed seeing him since his retirement. I was so sorry to hear about his passing. He will be missed.

I used to work at Ruan in the security department and it was a pleasure to work with Tom. He always had a smile on his face and was such a sweet man. I remember one time it was cold out and I couldn't figure out how to get in the parking garage and he came out and drove my car to the garage for me. Please accept my condolences.

I'm sorry lose your father and difficult time. I know him for long time. He love to playing golfing with his best friend and his name is buddy.
