Randy Betts, 63, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on January 14, 2022, at home. He was born in Des Moines on September 2, 1958, the son of Don and Darlene (Betts) Toomey.

Randy graduated from Ruby Van Meter in 1977, and worked for Spaghetti Works for many years before retiring.

Randy enjoyed watching Lifetime movies, wrestling, drinking his Pepsi and listening to music. Randy loved sitting outside visiting with friends. He was no stranger to anyone and everyone who knew him loved him. Randy called his loved ones everyday at the same time. He adored all of his nieces and nephews and would always say “what you doing trouble” when he would see them.

Randy is survived by his sister, Cindy Betts; brothers, Richard (Jolene) Toomey and Danny Toomey; nieces, Amy Betts, Denisha Betts, Wendy Roberts, Erin Toomey, and Carley Barrett; nephews, Justin Toomey and Jason Betts; his dog, Max; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; all of his uncles; and nephew, James Betts.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Celebration of life will be held at a later time. The family asks that you wear a mask and practice safe social distancing.
