Hazel Keul

Hazel G. Keul, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Hazel was born November 24, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Nellie (Garoutte) Eaton. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She married Paul F. Keul and was primarily a homemaker, lovingly taking care of her home and family. She was a past member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Hazel enjoyed cooking and baking. She was especially talented at making homemade pies and cookies, which she loved to do with her grandchildren. Family was very important to her. She was one of 19 children and was the last surviving sibling at the time of her death.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Pam) Keul, Jr. and Carl Keul, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews and their families.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Keul, Sr.; parents, Charles and Nellie Eaton; granddaughter, Kelly Keul; great-grandson, Nicholas Olson; and all of her siblings.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice or Fellowship Baptist Church in loving memory of Hazel.
