Gary Maland, age 71, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on April 19, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, the oldest of four children and known as the spoiled one. Gary graduated from Stagg High School in Stockton, California. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1973, and was discharged in 1974. Upon his return, Gary began a career in electrical work. In his free time, he enjoyed playing video games and spending time with friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Amiee; son, Michael; brother, Keith (Helen) Maland; sisters, Kim (Greg) Burkhead and Melanie (Barry) Greenfield; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Geraldine (Wadsworth) Maland; and nephew, Jeff Maland.
