Richard "Dick" Brady
December 20, 2021
Richard “Dick” Brady, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Dick was born February 12, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lloyd and Pauline (Traw) Brady. He was blessed to be married to Mary Ellen “Mel” (Monaco) Brady for 56 years, and was a father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Dick trusted in Christ as his Savior as a child and was baptized at the Rising Sun Church of Christ. As an adult he fulfilled a long-held dream and was very instrumental in planting and guiding NewLife Church by serving as an elder for the past 20 years.
Dick treasured time spent with family, loved music, and enjoyed traveling with Mel. He loved spending time on the water in his boat fishing and skiing. He enjoyed gardening, watching his grandkids activities, hanging out with his buddies and being in charge! He was a wonderful provider, supporter and encourager to us. We will miss him greatly and look forward to seeing him again!
Dick is survived by his children, Scott Brady (Becka), Kim Robinson (Neil), and Alison Hackbarth (Hal); sixteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren! Dick was preceded in death by his wife Mel, his parents, Lloyd and Pauline; his in-laws, Frank and Lucille Monaco; and his brother Dennis Brady.
Memorial contributions will be directed to International Literacy and Development and another nonprofit in loving memory of Dick.
Services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at NewLife Church, 6010 NE 12th Ave, Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 5:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed through NewLife Church’s website using this LINK. Cremation will take place after the services.

Mom and I wanted to tell you how sorry we are to hear about Dick. Mom told me about riding the bus with Dick when he was little and how much she enjoyed his company. I remember him from Rising Sun and from Aunt Joyce and Uncle John. Hard to lose such a good guy. Love from Donna Marshall and Debra Marshall Mallek
