Velma Florence George

Velma George was a caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She left this world to go home to her Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2021.
Velma was born to Florence Herscher Clayton and Pirl O. Clayton on June 7, 1922 in Havelock, Iowa. She married Willard Charles George on July 13, 1943 and together they had two children, Steven and Daniel.
Velma worked at Grandview Park Baptist church for over 25 years and later worked part-time at DMACC. She was devoted to her church and family. Velma enjoyed singing, writing letters to friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and taking part in numerous church activities.
She is survived by her sons, Dan and Steve; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Martha, Fern, Opal, Elmer and Robert.
Services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with private burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Dear Dan, Steve and family,
Due to health concerns, I will not be able to attend today's service. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Aunt Velma was a very special lady. She was kind, loving, and gracious!! I remember her with great fondness!
