Carolyn Rife, age 81, passed away at home on Monday, December 6, 2021. She was born the daughter of Francis and Lucile (Rapp) Browne on September 19, 1940 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Carolyn worked for Des Moines Public Schools and French Way Cleaners. She was devoted to the Lord and was a longtime member of The Church at Union Park. She treasured time spent with her family as they meant the world to her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Cynthia Rife and Lawrence (Jennifer) Rife; grandchildren, Caroline (Stephen) Williams, Valerie (Lloyd Belt) Strait, Hudson Rife, and Hayden Rife; great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Jaida, and Caelan; siblings, Larry (Cecelia) Browne, Linda Dawson, Marlin (Sharon) Browne, Elaine (Albert) Mowery, Stanley Browne, and Darlene Browne; sister-in-law, Cinda Browne; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and many special friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Rife (2017); parents, Francis & Lucile Browne; brother, Lonnie Browne; brother-in-law, Richard Dawson; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Margaret Rife.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at The Church at Union Park, 821 Arthur Ave, in Des Moines, with visitation of friends and family prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Carolyn was one of the sweetest people I know. She always talked so lovingly about her family, she loved you all dearly. I feel blessed to know her.

Carolyn was a kind, thoughtful woman who loved her family and faithfully served God. I was blessed to have known her when I was secretary at UPB church.
