Edith “Edie” Winscott, 85, passed away on November 25, 2021, at Urbandale Health Care Center. She was born on April 21, 1936, the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred Jones.
Born and raised in Des Moines, Edie graduated from Tech High School. On May 14, 1968 in Omaha, NE she married Charles Winscott. To this union three children were born.
Edie worked as a legal secretary in her early years. She was then a dedicated homemaker and stay-at-home mother. After raising her children, Edie went to work for Wells Fargo in their credit card services department until retiring.
In retirement, Edie worked at Curves and spent countless hours volunteering at VFW 9662. She enjoyed baking, socializing, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. Edie loved her coffee groups, including the one with her high school friends. She was a child of God and always put family number one.
Edie is survived by her children, Heidi (Martin) Gay, Chuck (Michelle) Winscott, and Pat (Krissy) Winscott; 7 grandchildren, Mandi, Jacob, Adam, Traci, Jeff, Shannon and Allison; 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; Carla Kraft, first born daughter, as well as many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dave Stone; and husband, Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m., also at the funeral home.

Edie always had a "welcoming" smile to everyone she met. I will miss her alot. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have known her. RIP sweet Edie.

Fridays at the V arent quite the same without Miss Edie. She always made us feel welcome and made THE BEST chocolate cake. She passed along her recipe but I could never get it to match hers. We miss her greatly.

She was a good friend for many years,we met in high school and continued until her passing. I will miss her .Rest in peace Edie.

We will miss seeing Edie at the VFW and talking to her on the phone. She was such a sweet Lady.
