Joyce Ann Condon

Joyce Ann Condon, 76, passed away November 16, 2021, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines after a long battle with cancer.

Joyce was born on June 13, 1945, in Muncie, Indiana to Walter and Mettie (Boyer) Wormer. Joyce attended Muncie Central schools, where she met her sweetheart Robert Condon, who preceded her in death in 2013. They were married and started their life at the young age of 17. Robert joining the Navy and Joyce being the Navy officer wife was in for many years of moving and living across the US in various locations. The friendships and comradery of the Navy, its officers and their wives were always held dear to Joyce’s heart. During the 20 years before Robert retired from the Navy, Joyce raised their three children and worked at a fair number of jobs along the way. Once retired from the Navy, the couple settled down in Iowa to watch their family grow. Joyce was a dedicated mother first and foremost; she treasured her children and her grandchildren (the magnificent seven) and embraced every moment life allowed her to have with her family.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Lee Condon, Robert (Sandra) Condon, and Joy (Christopher) Ray; grandchildren, Brandon (Zoey) Condon, Hunter Condon, Megan Ray, Tyler Condon, Taylor Condon, Jacob Ray and Nicholas Ray.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
