We visited Jean and family when we were young. I always looked forward to visiting Jean and Aunt Evelyn. I loved the strawberries and ice cream served and the hershey bars packed in the lunch for the trip back. And it was great when Jean would come to visit us in Milwaukee and at Lake Beulah. They always took the whole extended family out to eat at a nice restaurant. Jean was always a person I liked.
I am glad I got to visit Jean last month at Mill Pond. It was a very nice visit. ------------------------------------ My children also have good memories of Jean.
My daughter said:
Even though I barely spent much time with Jean the times that I did, she made such a favorable impression on me.
Jean sent me a nice card when I graduated from high school. I remember my brother and I returning home from college
and and we had a car problem. We called and were able to stay the night. I remember Jean being so very nice.
She gave up her bed for us to sleep overnight. Then in the morning a delicious breakfast was ready.
Jean couldnt have been any more gracious. Once when she came to visit she took everyone who wanted to go
out for a very nice meal. Jean always seemed intelligent, kind, fun-loving, loving and charitable. She made a lasting impression in my
life and I am sorry that she is no longer here with us, because her presence will be missed.-------------------------------------And a story my Son remembered:
He and I went to Des Moines to get a speaker system for his home, we stopped by to visit Jean
and she was so nice to have a lunch ready for us.-----------------------My children and I will all miss Jean.

Jean and I started to kindergarten at Woodside School in September 1941. We have been friends for eighty years! Jean dedicated her life to teaching and she was one of the most generous, caring, kind friends one could have. She was thoughtful--always remembered my birthday with a card and letter. She collected beautiful artifacts on her trips and it was always a joy to visit her home. She was a gracious hostess. I have many happy memories and I feel grateful to have had her as a friend. I will miss her!
