Brian L. Rustan

Brian LeRoy Rustan, age 46, passed peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021 at his home in Des Moines.
Brian was born April 27, 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Ruth (McFadden) Rustan. He grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines East High School in 1994. He met the love of his life, Misty, in 2001. Brian was a volunteer fire fighter for Delaware Township. He loved anything to do with racing, especially quads. Brian enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. He never met a stranger, loved and cared for all children. He will be remembered for his caring nature and his contagious smile.
He is survived by his wife, Misty; parents, Robert and Ruth Rustan; children, Ashlee (Travis) Palmer, Brandi (Nathan) Reed, Nicholas McCarl, Brilen Rustan, and Blake Rustan; three grandchildren, Colt Palmer, Tillee Palmer, and Aubree Reed; brothers, William Rustan and Robert Rustan Jr.; sister, Kathy Root; and many other loving family and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Louine McFadden; his paternal grandparents, Emery and Anna Rustan; and his grandson, Roman Palmer.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, also at the funeral home.

To the rustan family going to miss Brian a lot. Always loved talking to him after Blakes practices n basketball games he was such a great guy!!! Blake misty ashlee and family keep positive and remember the good time with your dad n the memories! Blake keep your head up kid n play the sports you love in your dad memory

Misty, Im so sorry for your loss. I met your husband several times over at the baseball fields. He was always very nice and always had a smile on his face.
