Steven L. Austin, Sr.

Steven Lynn Austin, Sr., age 69, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his home in Des Moines.

Steven was born May 1, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Beal and Leota (Carter) Austin.

He worked for the Wittern Group during his working years. He married Linda (Baie) Austin on June 14, 1971. He attended Grace Church and was a member of UAW Local 270.

He is survived by his children, Angel (Chris) Hesseltine and Steven (Jennifer) Austin, Jr.; sisters, Laura Fairman and Diane (Dan) Folkers; grandchildren, Ryan Hesseltine, Amanda (Shawn) Hesseltine, LeeAnne Hesseltine, Blake Austin, Victoria (Garrett) McFarland, Ashleigh Austin, D’Eljay Austin, Ja’Torious Austin, and Danay’a Austin; great-grandchildren, Izabella Longley and Jennifer Wenzel; and other loving extended family and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; and parents, Beal and Leota Austin.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Laurel Hill Cemetery beginning at 11:30 a.m.
