Marcia Sharon Neal
October 12, 2009
Marcia "Sharon" Moore Neal, 67, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009, at Taylor House Hospice.
Sharon was born February 23, 1942 in Des Moines to Ernest and Helen (Wilson) Moore, Sr. She graduated from North High School in June of 1960 and married James Neal on August 25, 1972. Sharon was the secretary for Grand View Lutheran Church and worked as an accountant with her husband Jim. She served on the church council at Highland Park Lutheran Church, was a volunteer with Victim Services of Polk County, had been a Den Mother, was involved with Little League and was a member of Women Take Back the Night and Capitol City Women of the Moose. Sharon was one of the founders of The Parks Community Free Thanksgiving Dinner feast in 1983. In 1992 the event outgrew local churches and they partnered with Linda Bisignano, Chuck's Restaurant. What started with 60 meals has grown to more than 2,500. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and above all, her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 37 years, James; sons, Jeffrey (Tracy) Neal, Timothy (Jodi) Neal, Matthew (Toni Jo) Neal and Christopher (Pati) Neal; brother, Ernest Moore, Jr; grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua, Theresa, Austin, Sydney, Madison and Derrick Neal; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Moore; and her sister, Carolyn Erickson.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Polk County Victim Services in loving memory of Sharon.

I was very sorry to hear of Sharon passing - I was a good friend of hers through all of our school years, from Saylor through North. As we are getting ready for our next reunion, we have all been reflecting back on our school days and I have many fond memories of Sharon -
I want you to know my prayers are with you at this difficult time and that your wonderful memories of Sharon will help you through the times ahead.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of loss.
Hold tight the memories and joyful times! Here is a poem which I wanted to
share with you:
Wings Of The Angels
by Tim Chambers
A gentle wind blew cross the land
Reaching out to take a hand
For on the winds the angels came
Calling out a mother's name.
Left behind, the children's tears
Loving memories of the years
Of joy and love, a life well spent
And now to God a mother's sent.
On angel's wings, a heavenly flight
The journey home, towards the light
To those who weep, a life is gone
But in God's love, 'tis but the dawn.
Take care of each other,

Jim, Chris,and Pati,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family during this sad time. Sharon was very special to us as Janette was her sponsor when she joined the Women of the Moose. We always enjoyed visiting with her when she came to the Lodge and will miss her very much. We will be unable to attend her visitation or service on Saturday as we have a Moose committment in Iowa City on Saturday. But know that we will be thinking of you and your family on that special day when you say your good-byes to your beloved wife and mother. Janette's mother passed away on July 31, 2009 so we know how much you will miss her. But you also have to take solace in the fact that she is now in heaven and does not have to suffer anymore. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you and your family.
In friendship,
Larry Sowers and Janette Bormann
