Clyde "Dennis" Nelson

Clyde “Dennis” Nelson, 73, passed away September 19, 2021, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist. Per his request, his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Dennis was born October 5, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa to Clyde and Doris (Swigart) Nelson. In 1969, he married Janice Edwards. The couple made their home on Des Moines’ Southside. Dennis was a trim carpenter and a member of Carpenter’s Local Union #106. He retired from Graham Construction. Dennis was also a member of the ZaGaZig Shrine. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fisherman. Above all, Dennis loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Angel Nelson and Denise (Jeremiah) Nelson-Briggs; grandchildren, Tyler Hindley, Drake Hindley, Breanna Hightshoe, Austin Nelson and Andrew Nelson; siblings, Mary Stamper, Jim Nelson and Robert Nelson; his beloved dogs, Kooper and Bella; and a host of great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and his beloved wife of 47 years, Janice.
