Danny Lee Morton

Danny Lee Morton, 67, passed away at home with his family by his side, on August 14, 2021, in Des Moines. He was born in Newton, Iowa on May 22, 1954, the son of Graydon “Junior” and Donna Morton.

Danny worked for Des Moines Asphalt for 34 years. He was a history buff and an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. Danny especially loved spending time with family and friends.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Julie (Hiatt) Morton; children, Stacy (Andy) Watt, Jennifer (Ted) Cross, April (Devin) Ahlers, and Missy (Jackson) Kite; grandchildren, Zacc (Arin) Watt, Bekka Watt, Sam Cross, Carter Morton, Harleigh Cross, Taylor Cross, Ava Ahlers, and Evan Ahlers; great-grandhildren, Tilly, Jude, and Wailen; brothers Tim Morton, and Bruce (Shirley) Morton; nieces, Courtney Morton Anderson, and Brittany (Brian) Guler.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Graydon "Junior" Morton and Donna Morton; his son, Doug Morton; and his nephew, Brad Morton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
