Dwight Leo Morrissey

Dwight Leo Morrissey, 67, passed away on August 15, 2021, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 2, 1954, to Dwight and Marjorie Morrissey.
Dwight proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later went on to retire from the 132nd Fighter Wing Iowa Air National Guard. He worked at the US Postal Service until his retirement on October 31, 2012 and was a member of the Bondurant American Legion. Dwight enjoyed history, sports (especially hockey) and will be remembered for his keen sense of humor.
Dwight is survived by his mother, Marjorie; siblings, Joe Morrissey, Melissa Morrissey, and Lisa Morrissey; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; father, Thomas; and siblings, David and Theresa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Ave, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church.

Very sorry for this loss, Marge, Joe, Melissa, Lisa,and other family and friends. Prayers for all of you. Will always remember all the wonderful cousin/family get-togethers at grandma & grandads, Leo will be missed by many.

Margie, Tamie and I are away this month, and we just heard the news. We are thinking about you so much and are so sorry to hear about Dwight. Such a gentle soul. May you and the family rest in God's comfort.
